I don't see how your first example can work, given that jQuery Mobile doesn't have a dialogcreate event! (Just searched the source code to make sure that there isn't one that is undocumented...) It's just create.

(What version of jQuery Mobile are you using? There is no dialogcreate event in 1.2.0).

In what way does appending to the list "not work"?

Unrelated to your problem, but I would avoid using .live() since it is obsolete and slow. Use .on() or .delegate() instead.

As well, I would use a class instead of jqmData(role=content). You should assign a class to this specific dialog, or if you really want to do this to ALL dialogs in your app, then use ui-dialog.

Why not just trigger this on pageinit? A dialog is really a page. pageinit is the ideal callback for most modifications of this nature. The page has already been enhanced, but has not yet been shown to the user, so you have an opportunity to change anything on the page before the user sees it, and JQM has already done it's work enhancing the page.

I would be very cautious about using undocumented events that you "read about in a book". There's no guarantee that they will still exist in some future release, and no guarantee that they really do what you think they should do.

OK thanks I will try. I found also a workaround which is to put the button after the div content, which is not very nice.

Yes , in fact I did, but the problem is to target a specific ui-select, if you have many lists or selects in your appli.
More generally speaking I think there is really an issue on the look of multiple select overlay: it is not clear to the final user that he has to click on the close button to validate his choices. An explicit button would really be useful. Is there a place to put this kind of suggestions?
