You are putting them both in block "A" of your grid. This will have an issue and simply create a new line. What you want is to either... add the second one to block b using ui-block-b, or use the same div and put them both in ui-block-a which seems pretty silly, since you could just use the same div without grids.

How can I put text and a variable together using the same div?

You have the full jQuery library available for this sort of thing. Use it. There are extensive functions for manipulating the DOM:

You can't expect us to solve every little problem for you. You need to learn jQuery and CSS in order to use jQuery Mobile effectively.

Sorry,  I was hoping for ideas, not criticism. Haga0054 gave me a good idea and I thank you.  I thought this forum was about solving "little problems", so others can learn from them.  I'm by no means a programmer, but I am learning or at least trying. 

I've been working on a personal project for about a month and this is the first question I asked.  I couldn't find the answer searching this forum or the net.  Thought I would ask and see if anyone had any ideas.  Guess I won't be doing that again.

I gave you an idea - learn to use basic jQuery DOM manipulation, and you will be able solve your problem.

I prefer teaching people to fish than to just hand-out fish. The thing is, then people expect you to cook it for them, too.

I wasn't asking you to write my website for me, just help with some code.  For future reference, telling someone to look it up is a real arrogant move.  Call it what you want, your still a tool.

Telling someone to look it up - and where to look it up - is, IMO, usually the best advice possible. I showed you exactly where to look. Without any example or code whatsoever, there is no possible way I could have answered your question more specifically.

Most questions here can be answered by either pointing people in the right direction or showing them how to ask questions effectively, so that it does not take several exchanges to eke the necessary details out of them. That leaves more resources to answer and debate the actual tough questions.

Sorry if my response seemed callous, but there are many who use this forum unapologetically as a way to get a task done without bothering to try to learn anything first. It gets to you after a while. We are all volunteers, not paid employees of some company trying to keep their customers happy, and willing to cheerfully tell them where the "enter" key is all day, or politely asking to insure they've plugged the thing in.

I'm actually a nice guy who likes to help people, but I need a little meeting in the middle. Zed Shaw or Linus I'm not. (Though I hear that Linus really is a nice guy who likes to help people too...)
