It is unclear to me if the menu component in 19m2 supports that behavior. The "overlay context menu" example for 19m2 menu is similar, but puts the menu over to the side, instead of underneath.
Is there any way to use the 19m2 menu widget to get behavior where the menu expands underneath, instead of to the side?
[In general, I'm also curious if the various other hieararchical and ipod-like behaviors demo'd in the original filamentgroup version are planned to eventually come to jquery-ui? Perhaps I should just use the original filamentgroup version? ]
The positioning is completely outside the scope of the menu plugin. The reason it appears to the right is because there's a call to .position() when the menu is shown. You can easily tell it to appear underneath, which is what autocomplete does.
Aha! I get it now, thanks. This is a very basic low-level plugin, you've got to make it appear and disappear where and when you want yourself. So the plan is to use it as the building block for more complete solutions?
It looks like, looking at the code in the 'context menu' example, that the spacebar shows-and-hides behavior is somehow built in, that's not added on top in the example? Where would be the place to mention the suggestion that esc key maybe ought to de-activate as well as spacebar?
