The JQuery Mobile 1.2.0 seems working OK on Android 2.3 platform -- it is listed as one of the A-grade platform in:

   UC Browser – Tested on Android 2.3 device

However, on iOS, the UC Browser has a "Speed Mode" -- which is ON by default.  When "Speed Mode" is turned on, a page written in JQuery Mobile will not display at all!  Try the following page:

Only a "Loading" circle will be shown, but no contents is displayed.

UC Browser claims to be the # 1 mobile browser in China and India. As iOS platform has significant market shares in both countries.  This situation could greatly limit usage of JQuery Mobile platform for Mobile App targeting those 2 new growing markets.

I was not familiar with UC Browser, but according to Wikipedia:

The web browser increases speeds by not loading web pages on the phone, but instead compressing and rendering them on a server,^[1] similar to the operation of a thin client.

I'm guessing this is the "speed mode".

I would not expect much if any success with this, unless UC Browser specifically supports jQuery Mobile. I doubt that there is anything that could be done from the client side to fix any incompatibility.

I would think it would take some cooperation between the UC Browser developers and the jQuery Mobile Developers to support JQM.
