Let me try this again. Below is the code from one of my files that contain names and phone numbers. I have a page with links that point to the different files with names and phone numbers. When you first go to the page, the name and phone number are in one line and they are just regular list items. If you refresh, it now becomes a link to the phone number. There are no anchor tags so I guess Jquery Mobile is seeing the phone number and turning it into a link. Not sure it doesn't do this when you first go to the page.
When pages are loaded via AJAX and appended to the DOM, Safari doesn't automatically link telephone numbers because it doesn't know the content of the page changed so it doesn't perform any format detection on the new content. It works on refresh because when the browser loads the page then it sees the text is formatted like a telephone number and then turns them into hyperlinks.
