I use the nested list functionality a lot, and I see that it is deprecated in jQM 1.3.0 ( according to the docs) and will be unsupported in future releases. I'm not sure why it is being left behind, and I'm wondering if there is now a better way to achieve that functionality. 

What I hope isn't the answer is that they want us to switch to making ajax calls for every click. The nested list does a nice job of allowing a certain level of navigation without new web calls, and then rely on ajax for more substantial content. 

Can anyone suggest alternatives to achieve this functionality and/or explain why the nesting is no longer going to be supported?
