Please fix the bugtracker, it rejects bug reports

The bug reporting form is broken

I wrote a bug report just to get the message:

"Submission rejected as potential spam (Maximum number of posts per hour for this IP exceeded)"

1. I hadn't filed a bug report from this computer for months, so it's BS

2. You must be kidding me, do you really filter posts just PER IP????? So ridiculous

3. If I'm not allowed to report a bug it should warn me BEFORE I waste my time writing the bug report!

If you care so little about bug reports I wonder why you keep a public bug tracker at all

Sorry, we had a spike in spam action recently. If you create an account and login, you should have no trouble

Ok I see.

Then I suggest to simply not show the form to the unlogged user. Instead you may show a warning that says "please log in to report a bug".

So you would avoid users to waste their time filling in a form just to get it systematically rejected.

The spammers have taken the time to write automated programs to create accounts. Before we turned up the spam filtering we were getting up to a dozen spam submissions a night sometimes (they always seem to do it overnight in the US timezones). Perhaps you (or your ISP) is using a proxy that is also being used by spammers?

After logging in, I do can report a bug (I have to fill in a captcha but it works).

When I was not logged in, I either got the reject message without a captcha or I got a captcha that wouldn't work (i.e. after typing in the captcha words, it would be rejected anyway).

My point is: if a bug report by a non-logged-in user is going to be rejected ANYWAY, then don't give the opportunity to write it (not for the sake of fighting spam, for the sake of not make users waste time).

Or if non-logged-in submission IS supposed to work with the captcha, then be informed that it doesn't. Maybe the captcha is simply broken. (yes I tried it multiple times, I may have misspelled once, but not five times).
