Hey Santosh,

Sounds like your div (containing div) is the sortable item, so anything within that div is also treated as the sortable item.

You can exclude your containing div as a sortable item by using something along the following lines:

$("#sortableElements").sortable({
      items: "div:not(.ignoreMe)"
....
....
});

You could give your containing div a class of .ignoreMe and that would enable your child divs to be treated as the sortable items instead of all of the divs combined as one sortable block.

e.g.

<div id="containingDiv" class="ignoreMe">
      <div id="sortable1">Hello</div>
      <div id="sortable2">Goodbye</div>
</div>
