[SOLVED] replace radiobutton with jqm toggle switch in a <form>

I have chosen to replace radiobuttons with a toggle switch, but it somehow does not translate.

What's wrong?

original: radiobutton

wasabi Are you a bot-moderator!? You seem to be all over the place. Becaouse of your officiousness, my presence on a forum resembles rather a private correspondence with one person. Whenever I ask a question , you're there first with a vatiation of the same age-old dogma: do your homework. Don't you ever sleep or what?? Why don't you finally give it a rest and stop spamming my threads. It can not be that being after ppl is a way for you to promote your picture. Give it a rest and consider all my future questions answered. No point in the Rules gives you a right to intimidate other users with your one-trick-pony convictions as to "what programming really is about".

I don't know about others here, but if I come to a forum to ask a question it is when I have reached the top of my possibilities for now and the manuals and past online exchanges do not provide a clue. Subjectively. The answer is possibly there, only I can not identify it. This is when I ask for help. Constant rtfm of yours i find therefore simply unfair - and recently also irritating.

when I asked about the logic of a js piece, your spamming my thread with your beliefs as to what css and what js are for - as it was the case a few days ago, is tantamount to stealing the thread. Despite my instisting that we stayed on topic, you simply played your old record.

I eventually came up with the answer myself; you sure may not have liked the solution, but it is sufficient to me and I don't care what purists think about it. You may have some valuable opinions, but overstressing your point simply disturbs.

Similarily here. I have been to the input and option tutorials, but it does not clarify the issue to me. Now that you are additionally becoming a joker...

Considering the above, I kindly ask that you just do not express your many-times-repeated opinions in threads started by me. Just resist the temptation and move on to your tasks. If too bored, go tidy sum css.

Okay, I have found the answer.

the problem was that flip toggle switch doesnot assume numeric values, but on vs off.

so the proper piece of code is:

consequently, the js needs to follow. from

{for (ll=0;ll<document.BRAND.MODEL.length;ll++){
if (document.BRAND.MODEL[ll].checked){
MODEL=eval(ll+1)
}}
if (MODEL==1) {KIND="sedan"}
if (MODEL==2) {KIND="sportster"}

it should turn into

if (document.BRAND.MODEL.value=="off") {KIND="sedan"}
if (document.BRAND.MODEL.value=="on") {KIND="sportster"}

in case it helps someone.

I may have mis-read your post, and skipped-down to the data-role="slider". If so, mea culpa.

But I could swear that it originally read "replace radio button with a slider", not "radio button".

It is rather illogical that JQM uses `data=role=slider` both for sliders and toggles. Should have been `data-role="slider"`, but it is what it is. Lots of stuff in JQM is illogical...

I'm not being critical to be mean. I am just suggesting that you crawl before you walk, as most of us have, myself included. It's kind of unreasonable to try to fast-forward over the fundamentals, and then expect people here to answer your questions when you don't seem willing to meet us half-way.

I'd suppose the reason I'm jumping in here and answering your questions is because nobody else is...

you are right on that hardly anyone answers my questions apart from you and myself. but sometimes people do answer even a long time after my post. My concern with some of your answers, the last one included was that such remarks may distract ppl from my question. I do not feel like getting involved in a meta discussions just because others may think the same as you on subjects which would rather suit to "cafe" dept of the forum - not the technical one.

such a forum is for me a way to crystalize the problems in my mind to make them easier to solve, should noone else do it before me. I am not a kind of guy who relies on people in terms of the big picture, especially if the problem - i insist - is very specific. In other words - i reject mentorship in such cases.

I remember what you said about the right approach to programming, and i do not share your belief. and I have gone a long way - and learned a lot - by focusing on the immediate demands. Problems grow more complex as task do. that's how it works with me.

yes, I have introduced several chances in my first post, so what you remember about its incorrect content is correct. However, if your first post was meant to indicate my being wrong about the technical name ("replace my car with a potato."), i failed to grasp the idea. even now if I were to reverse engineer your reasoning behind your answer and how it was to lead me, I have no clue. I wanted to replace one kind of element in a form with another. your answer suggests that they are not interchangeable, while they are. My problem was misnaming one of them, but the code was relevant. If you really did not to make it too easy, maybe saying that they are cats fed different kind of feed would make sense, and , indeed, would be much appreciated. instead, the answer you offered was misleading.

I can notice that rather than offer people fish, you would inspire them to make a fishing rod. No, I would say that what you do is tell them that before they start fishing, they need to do a proper course, maybe learn some technical things like kinds of lakes, types of floats... no that's alien to me. I learn the other way - by doing.
