Select Menu Items showing when exiting menu

I have one <select> box with data-native-menu="false" that populates with different data based on what radio button is clicked. When a choice is made, the next radio button in the series is automatically selected.
The problem is, when the number of items in the select box require that full screen context menu (like the "Choose State" menu at the bottom of this page: http://jquerymobile.com/demos/1.0/docs/forms/selects/), after a selection is made, the box populates with the data for the next button before fading out. Is there any way to prevent this?
