jQuery Validate & only one of multiple fields required

I'm developing a registration form for our school's website where new students will be able to register for class.
Some of the fields will be required others optional.

However there will also be several sets of fields where only one or more but not all will be required at the same time (e.g. We either need a home phonenumber, a mobile phone or eMail address to be able to contact them).

How can I get this implemented? All I can find is to either set the fields to required of optional.
