Hello All,
I posted the following on the message boards for two of webtako's excellent plugins over on Code Canyon. Seems the author has been MIa so I am seeking help here in hopes of getting this matter resolved quickly.
As follows:
I am posting this message in two locations here: for the banner rotator plugin and also for webtako's horizontal scroller with lightbox plugin because I'm now getting an anomaly when running both of them on the same website.
After using bot of these plugins independently of each other on a test page, I first implemented the scroller/lightbox plugin seen here:

I then decided to add the rotator to the rest of the pages that were not using the scroller/lightbox in order to streamline the overall look of the site and add some more 'wow' factor.
When viewed on all five major browsers on my tower, the pages look and function fine (although where they were closer to each other in layout, I'm now seeing a slight variance with Opera, for instance).
BUT...
When viewed on my iPhone 3GS, every page that has a ratator loads and works fine in portrait or landscape. THEN, when viewing a page with the scroller, the scroller will NOT show up in landscape but will load in portrait.
This was not the case prior to adding the rotator.
I would love to know if this is a problem due to a mistake on my part or due to some fluke, etc.
I don't own an iPad so I have no idea if this happens on that device as well.
If any of you have any advice or knowledge of how to fix this, PLEASE let me know. I will be extremely grateful.

Hello All,When I write up a simple test page such as the one found here: http://www.xoverr.net/devsite/ucc/test.php
I am using a plugin by Webtako (found here: http://codecanyon.net/item/jquery-horizontal-image-scroller-w-lightbox/112734), it is a combination slider/scroller and lightbox. It works fantastic as a dual application plugin, and it also has functionality to use just the slider/scroller or just the lightbox.
My trouble is occurring with just using the lightbox, the description is as follows:
I’m experimenting on using just the lightbox in a test site.I can click any of the four links I placed on the page, the lightbox opens and all of the photos can be viewed using the navigation. It works perfectly.Then, I want to use it on a page that has thumbnails displayed. This page is PHP driven and pulls the info from a MySQL database. What’s interesting here is that the lightbox CAN work, but not the way I want it to. Here’s the link to the thumbnail page: http://www.xoverr.net/devsite/ucc/thumbnails.php?pv=1&gallery=19&gs=1&ct=1 When I say it CAN work, I mean this – When the code for the anchor and for the image source are set identical (meaning they both point to the thumbnail folder which is obviously not right but I discovered this by mistake):

But when I change the code to look for the large image(which is what I want to display) in the correct folder:

Hello All,
This is at the request of a client: He wants a video as the BG for his website that I built. I have looked over Tubular and I am certain I have come across others browsing the repository here.
Thing is, I noticed with Tubular that there's a player control bar at the bottom of the page, and for this application, that won't do.
Specifically, the client wants smoke wisping or billowing up behind the page. I thought to do it with video, thus Tubular or equiv, but if you have any suggestions for an alternate route, please tell.
The page is 1000 x 570, so to have video/smoke wafting upward and around the page, the video will need to be over 1000px wide. My concern is image degradation, and more importantly this process bogging down the site.
I don't particularly care for this idea, but that's what they want, so any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Hello All,
About 12 days ago I purchased Webtako's beautiful Banner Rotator from CodeCanyon (http://codecanyon.net/item/jquery-banner-rotator-slideshow/109046)
I want to use it on a new test page in conjunction with bxSlider (http://bxslider.com).
Problem is, when I install the code for the Rotator, my slider gets blown out, specifically, instead of displaying a horizontal row of thumbnails, it blows out the layout and they appear in a vertical line without the graphic navigation links.
I have a test page here: http://www.xoverr.net/testsite/site1/index.php in which I have implemented bxSlider and navidropDown plugins (there are links on the page to both plugin authors). The Rotator is not on this page due to the conflict between it and bxSlider. I did check to make sure it wasn't a conflict with naviDropdown, the conflict lies solely between the Rotator and bxSlider.
I know that plugin conflicts are common, and would like to know what I can do to make this all work together.I left a comment on Webtako's blog section (http://codecanyon.net/item/jquery-banner-rotator-slideshow/discussion/109046) and have also contacted Steven Wanderski, the suthor of bxSlider, but as yet, I have not heard from either of them.
So, are there any of you here who could shed some light on this frustrating little conflict?Thank you in advance for your help.

Hello All,
I want to add dropdown lists to my navbar that appear on mouseover. I am currently trying to understand how to modify bxSlider for a different use, can I use bxSlider for dropdowns as well? If so, any nod in the right direction would be sincerely appreciated.
If there is a better plugin for this purpose, please let me know. I have a test page up here: http://www.g490.com/testsite/index.php, the orange links in the navbar are the ones I would like to add on mouseover dropdown animation.

Hello All,
As a complete beginner with jQuery (though self taught in HTML, CSS, PHP and MySQL), I was thrilled to have successfully installed the bxSlider plugin to my test site last night. It was when I wanted to get to modifying it to suit my needs that I got completely stuck.
Here's what I want to do with it:
1. I use it for displaying image thumbnails. the default setting is 1, I want to change it to 5. Likewise with the number of images it scrolls when you hit a prev/next link, I want that set to 5 as well.
2. I also want to implement my own graphics (arrows at left and right of the displayed thumbnails) for the prev/next links and remove the text links for prev/next completely.
I got stuck on item 1, so let me describe what I did and what happened.
On the bxSlider website (bxslider.com), they list code shown on this page: http://bxslider.com/examples/display-move-multiple-slides-once-example-two that lets you change the number of images displayed and the number of images to scroll. Cool, seems easy enough...but I don't know where to put this code to make it work for me. I use an includes file for the list of thumbnails I want to display with the slider. The basic jQuery code is in there, and although I think this is where the code I referred to in the link above should be placed, all of my efforts to do so have not been successful.
I also tried changing the defaults in displaySlideQty and moveSlideQtyfrom 1 to 5 in either and both of the jquery.bxSlider.min.js and jquery.bxSlider.js (in the source folder) to no avail. I changed the numbers back to 1 which is the default and it went back to how it works now.
I have a test page up here: http://www.g490.com/testsite.index.php this is a dummy page with bxSlider installed. I am using jQuery version 1.6.2 and am calling it from my own server.
If I have missed anything crucial in my explanation, or if any specific information on the test page itself is needed, please let me know.

PS - I am not certain as to the guidelines for posting code in this forum, if you know where to look for this info, please let me know.- Is it just me, or are there other newbies to jQuery who are finding this one of the most difficult languages to learn? It's not the complexity of the language, I taught myself PHP and MySQL, it's the documentation, the lack of 'nut and bolt' descriptions in tutorials and the general sense that only people who KNOW jQuery are writing about it...in a manner that conveys they are only talking TO people who already know jQuery.
When I learned PHP and MySQL, I found forums, books and tutorials that were written far clearer than any jQuery instructional I have read to date. Where is the, 'If you want to accomplish this, then here's how you go about it' (in detail!)? Every time I read docs for a plugin, it's like reading a software manual written for another software engineer. Any sort of basic, step-by-step guidance is missing from nearly everything I read. This is so unbelievably frustrating, I can't be the only person on the planet who feels or has felt this way.
So I went book shopping. There's a limit to how many $30-$50 books I can buy or order online. Each one is written with a different slant, and I lack the time to sit on the floor at Barnes & Noble reading for hours to determine if a specific book addresses things I want to know in a manner that makes sense to me.
Why is such a powerful language hidden beneath a shroud so thick? Where is the step-by-step guidance? PHP was nowhere near as difficult to pick up. But then again, there were books and tutorials that I found easy to read, easy to understand.
I'm not here bashing anyone who has put time into jQuery or any of its plugins. This is MAGNIFICENT STUFF!! But...the help out there is so basic, generalized and laden with engineer-speak, it's like being taught to drive a car with someone handing you keys and telling you that the car can take you anywhere you want to go...nothing else. PLEASE...there has got to be some resource out there that a beginner to jQuery can use to learn the langauge and how to apply mods to plugins.

Hello All,
I'm brand new to jQuery, and I am really interested in learning about it because of the potential it offers to enhance my webpages.
To give you some background, I am self-taught in PHP and MySQL...not on a master's level, but I have designed and built database-driven sites with success and am confident that I can learn jQuery if only I could get pointed in the right direction.
I have perused tutorials, links, forums and recently bought the jQuery Cookbook (I needed SOMETHING to go on and it was one of the few jQuery books at the local bookstore that felt as though it would be of help). My problem is, I am finding gaps in information that, to me, are critical to learning. I am looking for a nut-and-bolt approach, 'Do this, then do that' not the typical generalizations I keep encountering.
All I want to do to start with is to remotely validate a two-item form, you guessed it, username and email, against the contents of my database (the info for the validation plugins is just as vague and general). That's it. But the tutorials and examples are vague to me, and in one instance, a link was posted offering to display the server-side validation code used and the link was dead.
I can't be the only person here who is stonewalled by these thoughtful, yet overly-general tutorials and books.
Please...if any of you have suggestions where I can find a concise, true step-by-step tutorial or book, I would love to know. Right now, it's just one frustrating day of research after another.
