Business Owner needs Help: Maximum Images/Size Restrictions?

Hello,

I am not a programmer but the guy I hired to do my website said any more that 3 images on the JQuery slide would greatly slow down the functionality of my site, and therefore he is recommending I use flash. Is there any truth to this?
