button widget

Hello all and wish you a wonderful 2010 8)
I'm getting this error when using the button widget with latest jUI
TypeError: Result of expression '$("<span></span>")
                .addClass("ui-button-text")
                .html(this.options.label)
                .appendTo' [undefined] is not a function.
is there an easy fix?
