conflicting slider and pop up form

Hi, i have a page with a slider when i add the pop up form and its scripts to the page only the pop up form works and the slider stops working, i tried using the <script>jQuery.noConflict();</script> line after the javascripts that i think are conflicting because when i remove the " jquery-1.4.min.js" javascript the slider starts working but then the form doesn't work... but i am not sure if i have done it right..please if anybody can help i'd be really grateful
