Could someone help lead me to how I would create something similar to this?

He has it set to mouseover but I would want mine set to onclick.
Im very new to jQuery but working my way thru a book on it.
I would love to have this kind of control over my elements.
Can anyone suggest what I need to focus on in order to be able to create this effect?
I would want it to hold forms and block level elements in each section though, not just photos.
Any help/advice appreciated
