Creating a help overlay like Google Reader or GMail

Any tips on how to quickly create a keyboard shortcut overlay like that in reader or gmail?

I was thinking of using the modal dialog and applying some CSS to it... any ideas would be welcome. Any tips on what CSS classes I'd need to modify?
