Creating a local area to share data.

Hi everybody,
I would like to know if is possible to create a local area where same PCs, connected by LAN, can share some software. For example in laboratory where are PCs conneted by LAN, the teacher gives a lecture to students entering a restricted area controlled by the teacher.
