cycle plugin: fade to background than next slide

Is there an option to fade to background and than to the next slide?
Currently, when setting the "fx" to "fade, it makes a transition between the 2 slides.
Say I have a pink background under the gallery, I'de like each slide to fadeOut to pink than the next slide fadeIn from pink.

Any ideas?
