from what i can see on Cycle2, I'm not sure it is possible to stop the "next" slide appearing until it has loaded. I know it does this in "auto" mode, but on the "Manual" example, a blank image slides across and then loads. What I want to do is show the preloader on top of the current slide, load the images from the next slide, and *then* transition across on completion of image loading

anybody have a solution please

I'm assuming you might be able to hook into "cycle-before" and somehow stop the slideshow but I think that is only to stop automatic slides.
