Datepicker erase date

Hello,
this is my first attempt to add a jQuery control on my form and it
works. What a fantastic library !!!
The problem I encounter is that the erase way for the value (ctrl+end
- close and erase the date) isn't so natural and hard to find.
It's there any way to set this erase function on the "backspace" or
"delete" button ?
