Design items


Hi all -
I'm currently going through wiki pages to merge in comments and
standardize pages into the tweaked template. My plan is to build out a
bunch of new pages, even if they just have a brief description and
wireframe design for now.
Right now, the high priority items in the grid are: spinner, progress
indicator, position to, menu and color picker.
1. I'd like to suggest that we de-prioritize the color picker and bump
up the tree, slider re-factor and maybe the html > data to be high
priority instead since these would have broader appear to developers.
2. Since many widgets will leverage utilities like positionTo, html >
data, disableUI, keyboard, and mousewheel, it seems like we should get
these done sooner so the widgets can build on top of them instead of
the other way around. These wiki pages are very thin (or non-existent)
so getting for these items so fleshing these out should be an
important thing we do soon.
3. It would be helpful if the top of the main wiki page had a brief
summary of status, priories and key dates that would be up-to-date and
easily accessible. Could one of the leads try to write up a summary on
this page? I don't have a good enough handle on this at the moment. In
fact, this should be a summary of the weekly call the pertains to the
design and planning side of things.
4. A very important thing we all need to try and do is add any
decisions made in the dev discussions back into the wiki pages. There
is too much conversation happening that isn't ever being recorded
concisely in a permanent place. Many cases, it would be more efficient
to write up a proposed approach, feature list or code example on the
wiki page, then point people in dev to the page for them to edit with
you.

For the 2 items slated for 1.6 I'd like to update everybody on status
and next steps needed:
Spinner: There is a solid description and design mockup. We can take a
stab at sketching out the html markup and examples for this today if
that would be helpful. We need help filling out the detailed
functional requirements for this. Who is currently slated to code this
because it would be good to have them collaborating with us in the
wiki on this now.

Progress indicator: The description and design is in good shape, but
the functional requirements are still in flux. I copied my and Scott's
posts from the dev thread, but this needs to be built out and nailed
down. Could someone take the lead on distilling the conversations on
dev into a proper spec? We can do a rev on the HTML markup with the
new TR styles, but we need to get clarity on the features. Are we just
building O1 and O2 which is basically just variations on the label
feedback position?
