Developer Accounts
Developer Accounts
Hello All!
I've been able to squeeze in some management work on jQuery - so my
question is: Who wants a developer account for jQuery?
I'm offering two different styles of accounts:
- The first is available to anyone who's developing a jQuery plugin.
You'll get your own development area and web space. Additionally,
you'll be able to check the beta jQuery code out of SVN (for helping
to test) but you won't be able to commit.
- The second type is a superset of the first - but it includes the
ability to commit to the jQuery core (and related plugins, events, fx,
ajax, etc.).
With either account you'll also get your own Subversion repository,
web site, and shell account. And at some point, your own Wiki (Just
started), Bug Tracker (Not even close), Testing Suite (Just started),
and Mailing List (Almost done).
I haven't figured out how the naming should go, yet. Since everyone
will get their own jQuery subdomain, should it be by name? For
example, Ian recently sent me some drag-and-drop code, so the site for
his plugin could be:
http://ian.jquery.com/dragdrop/
But would this make more sense? (It would mean more accounts, unfortunately)
http://dragdrop.jquery.com/
Or even like this (the Perl way):
http://jquery.com/~ian/dragdrop/
For right now, I'm going to take things slowly and do them on a
person-by-person basis, until I set up something a little more
automated.
Any feedback on this would be greatly appreciated - I'm just trying to
play things by ear.
