Display datepicker from an anchor

Hello,
I've searched a lot and can't seem to find an answer to my question.
I'm new to jQuery and can't seem to solve what seems to be a simple
problem.
Is there a way to use the datepicker from a link as in <a href="#"
id="date_picker">Monthly View</a>?
