Do any of the slider demos work ??

Hi
I'm new to jQuery and have gotten many features working. However, I
can't seem to get any of the slider demos working. Even the demos on
other web sites. Is this correct ? Am I doing something wrong ?? Do
the demos really not work ??
Any advise ?
