Drag and drop, very slow

Hi all,

It is a day planner, where various places can be dragged on to the day planner. It works, but it seems very slow.

Running firebug profile when dragging a simle place into a single slot tells me that over 35,000 calls were made.

Any help or advice much appreciated!
