dueling draggables

I have a draggable black rook on a droppable square, and a draggable white rook on an adjacent droppable square. When I drag and drop the first one over the second one it simply disappears. When I drag and drop the second one over the first one it drops on top of the first. How do I make either one "capture" the other?
