fadeOut after a certain amount of time after page reload

Hi,

Can anybody tell me how to fadeOut a Tag's innerHtml after a certain amount of time? Because I would like to display a confirmation massage after page reload, but I want this confirmation message to fadeOut after let's say 5 seconds.
