Get menu to slide with individual colors/images for each btn

Hello there,

How might I go about making a menu like this: http://www.slarc.com/test/NavMenu.html

Currently that's a flash file I made, but I figured I should use jquery and js to effectively get this working.

Any ideas? (sorry for the rookie question).
