Having trouble controlling audio in subsequent divs

I'm having a really weird problem with stopping audio on my page.

I have one overall container, then inside it are 3 pages, "page with no sound", page1main and page2main. The webpage initially only has links to the main pages ("page with no sound", page1main and page2main), not the subpages. Link to "page with no sound" always appears first in document. Page1main and page2main then has links to two sub-pages, page 1a, page 1b, page 2a, page 2b. Each subpage has an html5 audio element (test1a.mp3 etc).

The script I have or stopping audio works only for the page and subpages whose link appears first in the html document after link to "page with no sound", but won't work for subsequent pages. For instance, if link to page1main appears right after link to "page with no sound", then audio on page1a and page1b will stop properly and page2a/page2b audio won't.
