help for noobs

I'm not talking about myself. Would it be ridiculous/possible to add
some functionality to the standard $() function to block until the
document was ready? It seems that a lot of people goober that one up
when they first try jQuery. I'm not sure if it's a good idea or not,
so I'm just tossing this one to the wolves.
