help with $ and noConflict()
Hello,
unfortunately, javascript development has left me far behind, and i don't understand a lot of this stuff.
specifically, the $ variable, and the noConflict() method/directive.
can someone point me to a doc or something that explains these in a lot of detail. i read the basic explanation which unfortunately did nothing for me.
specific reason for this question is: we are using a derivative of jQuery: the fancybox, along with other jQuery functionality - on some pages with multiple instances of the fancybox, it doesn't come up at all, and we get "$(document) is null" kind of errors. some folks have decided that they can do a var $$ = jQuery.noConflict() (or var $jq = jQuery.noConflict()) and use this new variable to solve this issue, and it doesn't quite solve the issue.
hence the question.
thanks,
Nilesh
