help with response data

Hi all,

I have got a ajax request which works fine but the response from the php page is displaying right at the top of the page. So i have tried using the success,complete,done and none stop the response from displaying at the top of the page, but also these don't work ie by putting alert(data); in does not get executed. I'm using 1.9.1 if anyone at help on this it will be great.
