How can I disable jquery animations on smaller screens ie mobile phones.

I have some jQuery animations running on my application but don't want them displaying on smaller screen ie mobiles. How can I disable jquery animations on smaller screens. If anyone can point me in the right direction it will be greatly appreciated.
