How to change the onclick for a href

Hi Everyone,

I am looking for a way to change the onclick for a href. I.e, I dont want to change it to something new, I'd like to take the existing onclick logic and replace it with a modified version of what it originally was. I hope I've explained my question well.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
