how to refer child elements of an element in jQuery

Hi All JQuery Gurus,

I have style code:

#RibbonContainer #Ribbon\.List\.CustomViews #Ribbon\.List\.CustomViews-LargeMedium-2-1,
#RibbonContainer #Ribbon\.List\.CustomViews #Ribbon\.List\.CustomViews-LargeMedium-2-0
{
display : none;
}
</style>

I want to execute it using jQuery. I am looking for equivalent jQuery to the above style tag. Can anybody explains me how to refer child elements of an element?

Is this valid jQuery?

$("#RibbonContainer #Ribbon\.List\.CustomViews #Ribbon\.List\.CustomViews-LargeMedium-2-1").hide();
$("#RibbonContainer #Ribbon\.List\.CustomViews #Ribbon\.List\.CustomViews-LargeMedium-2-0").hide();
