iBooks-like menu

I need to create a web based menu system that opens similar to the iBooks app, when you click on the icon the screen splits and the bookshelf appears with elements inside. I have seen something similar here: ( http://www.ok-studios.de/home/ , click on Projeckte) however the element you click on is not highlighted, it just slides away in the background.
