Introducing a new hand, a new Colour Picker and other works
Hello,
I'd like to introduced myself, although I've been knocking around the
jQuery mailing lists for a while.
I'm a full-time Javascript developer for Adaptavist.com, we support and
produce plugins for the Confluence wiki, amongst other things.
We are currently looking to overhaul the Javascript in our products,
using jQuery, and jQuery-UI.
I like the look of the work being done on UI and the CSS framework and
hope to work with you all on improvements and implementations of new
widgets.
One of the things I've recently been looking at is a replacement for the
YUI colour picker. I've noticed that the colour picker work in jQuery-UI
seems to have stagnated. So as a bit of a challenge and to familiarise
myself with the inner working of jQuery, I've started on a new
implementation.
The beginnings of which can be found here:

I've taken the opportunity to break it down into two widgets
(ui.colorpicker.js and ui.plane.js) and a general library of colour
manipulation functions (color.core.js & color.*.js) in the same vein as
the effects library of UI.
Also, to allow for the many possible flavours that a colour picker may
take, I'm thinking along the lines of a simple template and model system
that may even possibly extend to other parts of UI where complex widgets
are concerned. Although I'd like to discuss this in more detail at a
later date.
In the near future we are looking to replace menu and tree widgets in
our product too, so I'll be keen to work in these areas.
Anyway, keep up the great work, looking forward to 1.7 :)
Kind regards
- Mark Gibson
