jCarousel arrows not showing, and not functioning

I am trying to combine two plugins: The cycle plugin (working) and the jCarousel (not working)
I am just trying to implement a simple and standard display of jCarousel. Can anyone see, why it does not display the prev/next div areas?
Though Firebug I can see, that all relevant HTML is generated, but for some reason, the carousel functionality is not working.
