JQuery 1.4.x and portable browser code

Reviewing the JQuery 1.4 Release Notes ( http://jquery14.com/day-01), is it now possible for Javascript + JQuery 1.4.x code to run under the main browsers (FF3, FF3.5, IE 6/7/8, Safari 4) without modification?
