[jQuery] [attribute=value] selector in ie7

hi.
in ff 2.0.0.11 the selector works as expected.
in ie7 it fails to select anything.
example on documentation page
http://docs.jquery.com/Selectors/attributeEquals
also look different in said browsers.
is this a bug?
