JQuery calendar to be used in ASP.NET

I am working on a personal Planner/Scheduler kind of application. I am using my own database schema. I need all the data to be kept on my own server. I was looking for an interactive interface like google calendar (calendar.google.com). After a little research I found out that it is not possible to use only UI of google calendar and use my own customized database. I am using ASP.NET C# and SQL Server 2008.
Someone suggested me to use Full Calendar(
http://arshaw.com/fullcalendar/). It seems to fulfill my needs but I am not sure yet. It is based on JQuery. I am not at all familiar with JQuery.
Questions:
1. Can anyone acknowledge me if it is possible to use full calendar and pipe my data from my database?
2. How can I define the drag and drop events and associate the actions to be performed on server. I am familiar with applications based on PHP and AJAX. But the JQuery seems quite different than that approach. Can some one suggest a good tutorial?
