jquery cycle - images disappear on mouse over in IE8

Just created a new slideshow based on the tutorial for this demo:

It works fine every where except IE8. In IE8 the images disappear upon mouseover. I have tried about a half dozen potential solutions mentioned in this and other forums but no luck. Any suggestions?
