[jQuery] firing event when inner html of element was updated

Hello list,
Which event type should I use if I want to execute my code when DOM of
element was changed?
For example I have 'div' and set inner html like node.innerHTML or $
(node).html() and want to execute
some code after update (in event listener).
I'll try to explain why I need event listener.
I'm writing small rich editor and I need to check max length of
content. The editor uses iframe to
displaying html. I need to check length of html content in body of
this document after each update (keystrokes, paste, etc. ) What can I
use in this situation? May be there are other possibilities to check
length after update (the hardest things that iframe is editable,
designMode of doc is enabled).
Thanks for any advices.
