[jQuery] Infinite animations

I need to have a "please wait" animation. I was thinking of making one using jquery. Is it possible to create inifinte animations using the animate() function? A plain repeating gif is really booring. I think a javascript enabled animation would be more cool, don't you? Any ideas are welcome!
