jQuery.isPlainObject() and JSON.stringify()

jQuery.isPlainObject() and JSON.stringify( ) well my question is , when would you as a developer really decide to use the above two functions ??

i am still reading about these two functions and its a bit confusing , but just in a very general sense , when do such functions get used ??
