Jquery lag time help

Hello! I hired a designer to piece together 2 WordPress skins for a new website. One of the skins uses a great jquery "featured posts" section seen here http://matthew-fox.net that works perfectly. But once the themes were combined, the jquery starting acted up. The featured posts box works, but it is no longer instantly loading a post, instead having about a 10 second delay where no post shows. If anyone and help me on a freelance basis, I would really appreciate it. I will gladly pay you for your time via my PayPal account. I tried to fix this myself for about 8 hours today and I barely scratched the surface learning all the jquery functions and came up empty.
