Jquery ListNav: Using numbered lists

Thanks to the ListNav plugin - http://www.ihwy.com/labs/jquery-listnav-plugin.aspx, I have been using it effectively for alphabetical list. I would like to extend it to use with ordered lists, eg to lists by year. Has anyone tried doing this?

I would appreciate if someone could suggest how I should implement this.
