[jQuery] Mimetype option for $.ajax

Hi folks,
currently $.ajax accepts a 'type' option with values for 'html', 'json', 'xml' etc.
Regarding the discussion about the overrideMimetype option:
How about changing the type option to mimetype, accepting values like 'text/plain', 'text/html', 'text/javascript', 'text/json', 'text/xml'. Those mimetypes could be used, if applicable, for the overrideMimetype option, eg. to return xml even if the server sends plain text. Using standard values for the mimetype option could be more intuitive, too.
Opinions, other ideas?
