[jQuery] New Dating Site using jQuery :)
Although the site is not complete, I thought I would let you all in on
what is going on with LoveDango.com :-p
Before anything I would like to thank everyone on the jQuery team and
many of the people who participate on this mailing list as it has
been, and continues to be a valuable resource for development with
jQuery.
As for the dating site. I began the idea when I realized that there
was a giant black hole when it came to finding an easy to use, COOL,
and FREE dating site. The more and more I researched this idea the
more and more I decided, "Let's do it!" So I began. One of the major
things I wanted to do was to make the design functional, and make the
overall site cool at the same time. We are still working on that but
feel like we (We as in I, Anthony Bertolo and my buddy Pat) are
heading in the right direction.
Keep in mind we have a $0 dollar budget for the project and are doing
this on the side of other paying gigs.
Another large important part of what we wanted to do was AJAX, as well
as advanced css stuff. I had used prototype for the free language
learning website I am developing for a client called speakado. I liked
it, but it just didn't seem as flexible as I would have wanted it to.
While doing a google search for a cool way to do something in AJAX, a
tutorial page for jQuery came up and I told myself "That's the one I
should use for lovedango!"
We still have a good portion of work to do, but I thought it would be
a good idea to share my progress with you folks as well as get some
feedback along the way. The site in the works is http://www.cooldango.com
- Not much you can really do except create an account, send messages
and edit your profile. In the next few days most of the functionality
will be in there.
Any input is welcome, given you understand things are still quite well
into development. But I consider this a jquery driven project and am
excited to be getting close to done (although it might not look that
way).
Thanks for reading guys and I will be sure to keep you up to date :)
- Bertolo
